Trip Overview
A Ladakh Trip on the Srinagar–Leh–Manali–Delhi route begins in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. Known for its beautiful lakes, gardens, and mountain views, Srinagar offers a comfortable start before the journey gradually climbs towards Ladakh.
The road from Srinagar to Leh passes through Sonamarg, Zoji La Pass, Drass, Kargil, and Lamayuru, giving travellers the chance to enjoy changing landscapes throughout the journey. From green valleys and flowing rivers to rugged mountains and high-altitude deserts, every section of the route has something different to offer.
After reaching Leh, travellers usually spend a day acclimatising before exploring the town's famous attractions, including monasteries, palaces, local markets, and historical sites. Depending on the itinerary, many Leh Ladakh Trip Packages also include popular destinations such as Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and Khardung La Pass.
The journey then continues on the famous Leh–Manali Highway, one of the highest and most scenic roads in India. Along the way, travellers cross mountain passes such as Tanglang La, Baralacha La, and Rohtang Pass, while passing through places like Sarchu, Jispa, and Keylong before reaching Manali. From Manali, the trip concludes with a drive back to Delhi.
The Leh Ladakh (Srinagar–Leh–Manali–Delhi) route is considered one of the most complete Ladakh Trip itineraries because it allows travellers to experience the beauty of Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh in a single journey without travelling on the same road twice.
Why Plan a Ladakh Trip?
A Ladakh Trip through the Srinagar–Leh–Manali route offers much more than a regular mountain holiday. It combines scenic road journeys, high mountain passes, peaceful monasteries, beautiful lakes, and local culture in one unforgettable experience.
One of the biggest highlights of this Ladakh Trip is the road journey itself. Every day brings a different landscape, from Kashmir's green valleys and mountain rivers to Ladakh's barren mountains and the snow-covered passes of Himachal Pradesh.
Many travellers choose Ladakh Tour Packages because they make the journey easier by taking care of accommodation, transport, and sightseeing. Whether you are planning a Ladakh Trip with Family or Friends, a bike expedition, or a group holiday, this route offers the perfect balance of nature, adventure, and cultural experiences.
Why Start Your Ladakh Trip from Srinagar?
Starting your Ladakh Trip from Srinagar has several advantages. Since Srinagar is located at a lower altitude than Leh, the gradual climb towards Ladakh gives your body more time to adjust to the changing altitude, reducing the chances of altitude sickness.
Apart from being the starting point of the journey, Srinagar is also one of the most beautiful destinations in northern India. Visitors can enjoy a Shikara ride on Dal Lake, explore the famous Mughal Gardens, visit local markets, and try traditional Kashmiri cuisine before continuing towards Ladakh.
The drive from Srinagar to Leh is equally scenic, passing through Sonamarg, Zoji La Pass, Drass, and Kargil, making the journey itself one of the highlights of the trip.
Why Visit Leh?
Every Ladakh Trip includes a stay in Leh, the cultural and administrative centre of Ladakh. Most travellers spend one or two days here to acclimatise before visiting higher-altitude destinations.
Leh is known for its rich Buddhist heritage, historic landmarks, and lively local markets. Some of the most popular places to visit include Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Hall of Fame Museum, Leh Market, Magnetic Hill, and the Sangam of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. Travellers can also explore famous monasteries such as Thiksey Monastery and Hemis Monastery.
With comfortable hotels, cafés, restaurants, and shopping areas, Leh provides the perfect base for every Leh Ladakh Trip Package before continuing to other destinations.
Why Travel Through the Leh–Manali Highway?
The Leh–Manali Highway is one of the biggest highlights of a Ladakh Trip. Unlike the Srinagar route, this highway passes through vast open landscapes, high mountain passes, remote campsites, and beautiful valleys before reaching Manali.
During the journey, travellers cross famous passes such as Tanglang La, Nakee La, Lachulung La, Baralacha La, and Rohtang Pass. The route also passes through scenic places like Sarchu, Jispa, and Keylong, where travellers can enjoy spectacular mountain views and overnight stays.
Travelling through the Leh–Manali Highway allows you to experience another side of the Himalayas, making the Leh Ladakh (Srinagar–Leh–Manali–Delhi) itinerary one of the most popular Ladakh Tour Packages for travellers who want to explore multiple Himalayan regions in one trip.
Best Time to Visit Leh Ladakh (Srinagar – Leh – Manali – Delhi)
A Ladakh Trip through the Srinagar–Leh–Manali–Delhi route is best planned between May and September, when both the Srinagar–Leh Highway and the Leh–Manali Highway are open. During these months, travellers can comfortably explore Ladakh while enjoying scenic road journeys through Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
May to June (Early Summer)
This is one of the best times to plan a Ladakh Trip. Snow can still be seen on many mountain passes, while the weather remains pleasant for sightseeing and road travel. The roads usually reopen after winter, making it an exciting time for travellers who want to witness snow-covered landscapes.
Temperature: 5°C to 20°C
Ideal for:
Road trips
Sightseeing
Photography
Bike expeditions
July to August (Peak Tourist Season)
This is the busiest period for Ladakh Tour Packages. Most roads remain open, hotels operate normally, and all major attractions are accessible. Although Ladakh receives very little rainfall, travellers may encounter rain while travelling through Kashmir or Himachal Pradesh.
Temperature: 10°C to 25°C
Ideal for:
Family holidays
Group tours
Adventure activities
Camping
September to October (Autumn Season)
Many travellers prefer this season because the weather remains pleasant, tourist crowds become smaller, and the mountain views are exceptionally clear. It is one of the best times for photography and peaceful road trips.
November to April (Winter Season)
Heavy snowfall closes both the Srinagar–Leh and Leh–Manali highways during winter. Although Leh can still be reached by flight, this complete road-trip itinerary is generally not possible during this period.
