Trip Overview
A Ladakh Trip begins in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, located at an altitude of around 3,500 metres above sea level. Surrounded by the Himalayas and the Karakoram Range, Leh is the starting point for exploring the region's famous monasteries, mountain passes, valleys, and rivers. Most travellers spend the first day here to acclimatise before continuing to higher altitudes.
After exploring Leh, the journey continues towards the spectacular Zanskar Valley, one of the most remote and scenic regions of Ladakh. The route passes through beautiful mountain roads, small villages, rivers, and high-altitude landscapes before reaching Padum, the administrative centre of Zanskar. Along the way, travellers cross famous places such as Lamayuru, Singe La Pass, and several picturesque valleys that showcase the untouched beauty of the region.
Zanskar is known for its ancient Buddhist monasteries, traditional villages, dramatic canyons, and the mighty Zanskar River. Popular attractions include Karsha Monastery, Stongde Monastery, Sani Monastery, Phugtal Monastery (via trek), and the beautiful landscapes surrounding Padum. The valley is also famous for trekking, camping, and its peaceful atmosphere far from crowded tourist destinations.
The combination of Leh Ladakh with Zanskar makes your Ladakh Trip more meaningful because it allows you to experience both the popular attractions of Leh and the untouched beauty of one of India's most remote Himalayan regions.
Why Plan a Ladakh Trip?
A Ladakh Trip is much more than a mountain holiday. It is a journey through high-altitude roads, ancient monasteries, remote villages, and breathtaking landscapes that cannot be experienced anywhere else in India.
One of the biggest reasons travellers choose a Ladakh Trip is the variety of experiences it offers. During a single journey, you can explore centuries-old monasteries, visit crystal-clear rivers, drive through high mountain passes, interact with local communities, and witness dramatic landscapes that change from one destination to another.
A Ladakh Trip with Family or Friends also provides an opportunity to experience Ladakh's rich Buddhist culture, traditional lifestyle, and warm hospitality. From colourful prayer flags and monasteries to local festivals and authentic Ladakhi cuisine, every part of the journey offers something unique.
Adventure lovers are equally attracted to Ladakh Tour Packages for their thrilling road trips, trekking routes, camping opportunities, river rafting, mountain biking, and photography. This perfect combination of adventure, culture, and natural beauty is what makes a Ladakh Trip one of the most memorable travel experiences in India.
Why Visit Leh?
Every Ladakh Trip begins in Leh, the cultural and administrative centre of Ladakh. Before travelling to higher-altitude destinations like Zanskar, most visitors spend at least one day here to acclimatise and reduce the chances of altitude sickness.
Leh is home to several famous attractions, including Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Leh Market, Hall of Fame Museum, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the Sangam of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. Visitors can also explore nearby monasteries such as Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery, Shey Monastery, and Spituk Monastery.
With its comfortable hotels, cafés, restaurants, and local markets, Leh serves as the perfect base for every Leh Ladakh Trip Package.
Why Visit Zanskar?
Zanskar is one of the most remote and least explored regions of Ladakh, making it a perfect destination for travellers looking to experience the Himalayas beyond the usual tourist circuit. Surrounded by towering mountains and deep valleys, Zanskar is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ancient monasteries, and untouched natural beauty.
One of the biggest attractions of Zanskar is Padum, the main town of the valley, which serves as the base for exploring nearby monasteries and villages. The valley is also famous for the Zanskar River, dramatic gorges, and scenic mountain roads that attract bikers and adventure enthusiasts from across the country.
Zanskar is home to several historic monasteries, including Karsha Monastery, Stongde Monastery, Sani Monastery, and Phugtal Monastery, each offering a glimpse into Ladakh's rich Buddhist heritage. The valley is also popular for trekking, camping, photography, and experiencing the traditional lifestyle of the local communities.
Including Zanskar in your Ladakh Trip allows you to explore one of the most beautiful and untouched regions of the Indian Himalayas, making your journey even more memorable.
Best Time to Visit Leh Ladakh with Zanskar
A Ladakh Trip with Zanskar is best planned between June and September, when the roads remain open and the weather is ideal for exploring the region. During these months, you can comfortably visit Leh, Padum, ancient monasteries, mountain passes, and the beautiful landscapes of Zanskar.
June to July (Early Summer)
This is one of the best times to plan a Ladakh Trip. Many of the high-altitude passes still have snow, while the weather remains pleasant for sightseeing and road travel. It is also a great season for bike trips, photography, and exploring Zanskar Valley.
Temperature: 8°C to 22°C
August to September (Peak Tourist Season)
These months are popular for Ladakh Tour Packages as almost all major attractions remain accessible. The roads are generally in good condition, making it a great time for families, groups, and adventure lovers to explore Leh and Zanskar.
Temperature: 10°C to 25°C
Late September to October (Autumn Season)
Autumn brings clear skies, pleasant weather, and fewer tourists. The surrounding mountains look even more beautiful, making this one of the best times for photography and travellers who prefer a quieter Ladakh Trip.
November to May (Winter Season)
Heavy snowfall closes many roads leading to Zanskar during winter, making this road-trip itinerary difficult to complete. While Leh can still be reached by flight, road access to Zanskar is limited, so most travellers plan this Ladakh Trip during the summer months.
