Trip Overview
A winter journey to Spiti Valley, also known as Cold Desert, uncovers a pure Wonderland nestled in the heart of the Himalayas. Snow blankets the rugged terrain, transforming the landscape into a tranquil expanse of white. Despite the biting cold, this season provides dauntless travelers a chance to experience Spiti in its most raw and authentic form, away from the summer crowds. Spiti Valley is an extraordinary place of not only beauty but also a wealth of entertainment, unique experiences, history, culture, important traditions, friendships, local people, and unique culture. Indo-Tibetan influence. The Spiti region in the northeastern part of Himachal Pradesh is known as the "Middle Country" because it is a land that separates Tibet and India and is very similar to each other in great harmony. According to legend, Piti means Ashwapati, the ruler of Pinggu during the Mahabharata period. Ashwapati, meaning "King of Horses, " reflects the importance of the Pin Valley, famous for its unique breed of horses. Some believe the name comes from a Tibetan thief named Spiti Thakur, a member of the Thakur gang that raided the north of the country, Kuru, before King Sen established his rule.
