Trip Overview

Chopta is a small village located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, at an altitude of about 2,680 meters. The village is surrounded by lush green forests and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Tungnath is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site and the highest Shiva temple in the world, located at an altitude of 3,680 meters. Chandrashila is the summit of the Tungnath trek and is located at an altitude of 4,130 meters. The trek to Chandrashila is a bit challenging, but the views from the top are worth the effort.

Day-wise itinerary

Depart from Delhi Overnight Journey to Chopta

Meal: Dinner ( At Your Own )

  • Assemble at the pickup point by evening and get ready for an exciting road trip to the serene meadows of Chopta (approx. 10 hours drive).

  • Sit back and relax in your Tempo Traveller, which will ensure a comfortable overnight journey.

  • A dinner stop will be made en route (at your own expense).

  • On the way to Chopta, we’ll take an early morning pit stop at Devprayag to witness the magical confluence of the Bhagirathi & Alaknanda rivers —the iconic point where the Ganga is born.

  • After soaking in the vibes, we’ll take a breakfast halt near Rudraprayag, fuel up, and continue our scenic drive through the Garhwal mountains.

  • Arrive in Chopta by afternoon and check in to your scenic campsite.

  • Freshen up, soak in the peaceful surroundings, and spend the day at leisure.

  • Engage in fun group bonding activities and enjoy the calm of nature.

  • As the sun sets, gather around a bonfire with music, followed by a hearty dinner.

  • Wake up early, freshen up, and fuel up with a wholesome breakfast.

  • Today’s adventure takes us on a scenic trek to Chandrashila Summit (13,050 ft).

  • En route, we visit the legendary Tungnath Temple (12,110 ft) — the highest Shiva temple in the world.

  • Continue the ascent to Chandrashila Peak, where breathtaking panoramic views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Dome, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba await.

  • After taking in the views, descend back to the Chopta/Sari Village (Swiss Tent/Home Stay).

  • Wind down with dinner and an overnight stay at the camp/Home stay.

  • Wake up early and enjoy your last breakfast in the mountains.

  • After checking out, we drive to Sari Village, the base point of our next trek.

  • Begin a scenic hike to Deoria Tal, a serene lake known for its mirror-like reflections of the majestic Chaukhamba peaks — a picture-perfect end to the adventure.

  • After spending some peaceful time by the lake, trek back to Sari Village and begin our overnight journey to Delhi in the Tempo Traveller.

  • Dinner stop en route (at your own expense).

  • Reach Delhi in the morning, marking the end of your unforgettable Himalayan journey with Safar Wanderlust.

  • Head home with a backpack full of memories, stories, and snapshots from the mountains.

  • Before 30 Days: Full Refund (After Deducting Any Expenses that have been Incurred for Hotel Bookings, Transport, etc.)

  • Between 21-30 Days: 75% of the Total Trip Cost will be Refunded.

  • Between 11-20 Days: 50% of the Total Trip cost will be Refunded.

  • Between 0-10 Days: No Refund.
