Snow trips cover the Himalayan winter, from the first snowfall to the deep cold. Manali and Kasol departures from Delhi, including routes via Jibhi, Shimla or Amritsar, go through the Atal Tunnel to Sissu and Solang Valley, the most reliable snow points near Manali. The Spiti Valley Winter Expedition goes much further, into a frozen high desert on the Kinnaur route.
Snow is never guaranteed early in the season. In Manali town it usually falls between late December and February, while October and November trips mostly see snow higher up. Pack real winter clothes: thermals, a warm jacket, gloves and shoes with grip.
