Vietnam runs more than 1,600 km from the mountains of the north to the islands of the south. A good trip picks a few regions and does them well. We run two eight-day routes.
The classic Vietnam route starts in Ho Chi Minh City with a day in the Mekong Delta. It then flies to Da Nang for Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge, Hoi An’s lantern-lit old town and a basket-boat ride at Cam Thanh. It ends with Hanoi’s Old Quarter and a cruise on Ha Long Bay.
The Offbeat Vietnam route begins in Hanoi and heads to Sapa for the hill villages and the cable car up Fansipan, the highest peak in Indochina. It then flies to Da Nang for the Marble Mountains, Hoi An and a day in the old imperial city of Hue, and finishes on Phu Quoc island.
Places you'll love
Quang Ninh
A UNESCO World Heritage bay of limestone islands and caves.
Da Nang
A walkway held up by two giant stone hands.
Quang Nam
Lanterns, old merchant houses and the Japanese Bridge.
Lao Cai
Terraced valleys, hill-tribe villages and a cable car to the roof of Indochina.
Southern Vietnam
River life, floating markets and fruit orchards.
Gulf of Thailand
Beaches, Sunset Town and VinWonders on Vietnam’s largest island.
Why go
Thousands of limestone islets rising from green water, one of Asia’s great landscapes.
An old trading port with lantern-lit streets, tailors and riverside cafés.
Pho, banh mi, egg coffee and fresh spring rolls for very little money.
Plan your dates
Vietnam’s weather varies by region, so there is always somewhere good. February to April is pleasant almost everywhere. The north is cold from December to February. The central coast around Da Nang and Hoi An is best from February to August and gets heavy rain from September to December. The south is dry from December to April.

I recently planned a trip with the help of safar wanderlust , and piyush was our cordinator I couldn’t have asked for a better cordinator From the very beginning, he was organized, proactive, and incredibly responsive. He understood exactly what I was looking for and tailored the itinerary to match my preferences perfectly. What stood out the most was his attention to detail—every hotel, activity, and transfer was well-planned and hassle-free. He checked in regularly to make sure everything was going smoothly and was always available if I had questions or needed changes. His suggestions for local experiences and hidden gems added so much value to the trip. Overall, Piyush made the entire travel experience seamless and truly enjoyable. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, friendly, and knowledgeable trip coordinator!
We had been planning this trip for almost six months, and choosing the right package made it truly worthwhile. It was an awesome experience overall. The food and accommodation were very good.😊 We especially enjoyed the bonfire🔥 and DJ, and we even celebrated our friend’s birthday, 🎂 which made the trip extra special. Our guide, Ram, was very understanding and supportive throughout.🤩

"It was my first ever trip ✨ — I was scared at times 😅 but the adventure made it all worth it! The fun we had, the dance 💃, the Garba 🪔 — unforgettable! I made so many beautiful memories 🫶📸 with you all. My first trip couldn’t have been more amazing! 🌄❤️"
I truly enjoyed the trip—it was my first time travelling with a group of people outside my usual circle, and honestly, I never imagined they would feel so much like family. The entire journey was so well managed, and every moment was filled with fun, laughter, and new connections. A big shoutout to the coordinator for doing such a fantastic job in organizing everything so smoothly. Grateful for the experience!😊😊
🌟 A Journey of a Lifetime – Thanks to Safar Wanderlust! 🌟 If you're reading this and wondering whether to book your trip with Safar Wanderlust, stop thinking and just go for it. Speaking from the bottom of our hearts — this trip wasn’t just a getaway, it was an experience of a lifetime, and we owe it all to the amazing team behind Safar Wanderlust. This was our first trip ever away from home, and the nervous excitement we had at the start quickly turned into pure joy, thanks to how wonderfully everything was handled.
Tried a travel package for the first time in my life — and I’m genuinely impressed! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the entire experience turned out to be far better than I had imagined. Every little detail was taken care of beautifully. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well-located. The service at each place was warm and welcoming, which made me feel at home throughout the trip. But what truly stood out was the food — it was absolutely fantastic! From local delicacies to well-prepared meals at the stay, every bite was a delight. looking forward for more trips like this from safarwanderlust.😄
I am delighted that I chose Safar Wanderlust for my first trip to Himachal. I didn't even realize it had passed after these five days because everything had gone so smoothly and nicely. Our trip was unforgettable thanks to our wonderful tour guide, Ram Thakur sir. To us, he was more like a buddy than a tour guide. I had a terrific encounter with him! You have given me the greatest memories of my life and made every penny worth it ✨️.
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing an incredible trip guided by Ram, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the very beginning, his professionalism, knowledge, and warm personality made our journey truly special. Ram's deep understanding of the local culture, history, and terrain added immense value to our trip. He shared fascinating stories and insightful details that we would have otherwise missed. His passion for his work was evident in the way he ensured we had an enriching and enjoyable experience.

Before you go
In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City traffic flows around you. Walk at a slow, steady pace and do not stop suddenly.
Data is cheap and apps like Grab make city travel easy.
Sapa and Hanoi can be cold in winter even when the south is hot.
Good to know
Pick the classic route if it is your first time and you want the famous sights: the Mekong Delta, the Golden Bridge, Hoi An and Ha Long Bay. Pick Offbeat Vietnam if you want mountains and villages in Sapa, history in Hue and island time on Phu Quoc.
Vietnamese Dong (VND). Carry some US dollars to exchange, and use cash for markets, street food and small shops. Cards are accepted in hotels and larger restaurants.
In cities and tourist towns, yes. Look for "chay", which means vegetarian, and there are Indian restaurants in Hanoi, Da Nang, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. Fish sauce is in many dishes, so ask when ordering. Vegetarian options are harder to find in Sapa villages.
Both are possible. A day cruise from Hanoi covers the main caves and islets. An overnight cruise lets you see the bay at sunset and sunrise and try kayaking. Tell us your preference and we will plan around it.
